George Philips's story

I'm reaching out to invite you to join me for the next annual BellRinger Bike Ride this October 21, 2023. Our team represents a diverse group of backgrounds and interests. For many cancer patients, the connotation of Bellringer is reflected in the image above when a patient rings a bell in the Infusion Suite after successfully completing a course of treatment or otherwise celebrates an important life event or a major milestone during the journey with cancer. We welcome all those into our fold who can identify with our team, Ministry of Movement, or cancer research. I personally have not owned a car for 5 years and use the Capital Bikeshare citi-bikes to commute to my workplaces at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital-Lombardi Cancer Center. You can see my progression in photographs below from my childhood (on the terrace of my childhood home in India) to a Brompton folding bicycle (on the Old Town Alexandria waterfront) to my shared citi-bike (in front of the DC Botanic gardens). We would love for you to join us and ride, volunteer or cheer us on!

You can donate online or make your check payable to BellRinger and mailed to: BellRinger, 500 First St NW, Washington, DC 20001. Please write the name of the Rider or Team on the memo line of the check or in an accompanying note. If you'd like your donation to remain anonymous to the Rider and/or the public, please let us know in your note. We will post the check to the Rider or Team profile once it is received
