I’m a passionate interior designer who found my way into this field after an 18-year career flying helicopters in the oil and gas industry. In October 2023, I stood at the BellRinger finish line, cheering for my friends and helping raise funds for cancer research — not knowing that metastatic breast cancer was already silently spreading through my spine.
One month later, I became completely paralyzed.
In December 2023, I received my diagnosis. My oncologist told me that without the advancements made possible by research and new drugs, I might have had only nine months to live.
Today, more than two years later, I am still here.
Because research matters. Because innovation saves lives. Because people before me chose to give.
After years of cheering from the sidelines, last year I rode my first 25 miles. It was emotional, overwhelming, and deeply meaningful — to go from paralysis to that finish line felt nothing short of a miracle. BellRinger is no longer just an event to me; it is a weekend I carry in my heart and look forward to all year.
This year, I am riding 25 miles again!
