The weekend of October 20-21 Cobalt will be riding 50 miles in this year’s BellRinger fundraising bike ride here in D.C. for the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
We are participating because we love cycling and because we know the donations will have a big impact in our community and across the country. Cancer hits close to home for everyone, but there’s another reason we're riding this year.
In 2007, our friend Chris Capistran went to the ER with a burst appendix. But his CT scan turned up something much worse. A very rare cancer had done irreparable damage to his liver. He needed — and got — a life-saving transplant along with some exceptional, coordinated care at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Georgetown Lombardi. Sixteen years later, we are thankful to say he’s healthy, and we’re still working together to lead our team at Cobalt (Chris is our company’s President).
100% of funds raised in this event support the research faculty at Georgetown Lombardi as they discover cancer risk factors, design effective prevention strategies, and develop the cancer treatments of tomorrow.
