Jeffrey Toretsky, M.D., is the Division Chief for Pediatric Adolescent and Young Adult Hematology/Oncology at Georgetown University. He decided to pursue this professional path while an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin where he studied blood cell development. Dr. Toretsky was exposed to the clinical aspects of patient care as a weekly observer in an oncology clinic where his role consisted of bringing hot fudge sundaes (UW made ice cream, of course) to the clinical group during the teaching sessions that occurred after clinic. Now, 40 years later, he is riding to support research and faculty that will bring new ideas as well as approaches to the creation of anti-cancer drugs. He is thrilled to train with his team for Bellringer by showing them great biking trails around Washington DC. For more information about his research, visit: Toretsky.Georgetown.edu.
